Where are Kids' Canvas locations, and which neighborhoods do you serve?
Kids' Canvas has two locations: 1433 DeKalb Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237 and 358 Grove St, Brooklyn, NY 11236. We serve Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, and Williamsburg, Brooklyn; and Ridgewood, Queens.
What is the tuition for preschool or daycare at Kids' Canvas?
Tuition information can be found in the application on the admissions page, depending on the age of the child.
Does Kids' Canvas offer financial aid?
Yes! When filling out the application, be sure to click the box notifying us that you are interested in financial aid, and a financial aid application will be sent out to you.
What are your hours, and do you offer before- and after-school care?
We are open 8am-6pm, with options for enrolling from 9am-3pm and adding after care or early drop off if needed. We enroll for 5 days, 3 days or 2 days per week.
What curriculum or teaching philosophy does Kids' Canvas follow?
Kids' Canvas primarily follows a Reggio Emilia philosophy. We use a child-led, play-based philosophy that encourages creativity. We also focus on social-emotional development and building vocabulary early on. We go outside every day, as long as it is safe!
Do you have your own outdoor space?
Yes! Our Grove St location has an 800 sqft outdoor play area and children's garden. The equipment is specifically designed for younger children. We have a vegetable and herb garden that the children water every day. On hot days we set up the sprinkler for water play!
Do you offer summer camp? What are the dates and cost?
Yes, we run a summer camp in July and August with weekly sign up. Cost information can be found on the summer camp application HERE
How do I schedule a tour or apply?

What is your teacher-to-child ratio?
At capacity our classrooms have 3 teachers in each classroom, which is more than required by the NYC Department of Health. The ratio of infants is no more than 1:3; for toddlers (ages 1-2) it is no more than 1:4; and for 2's and older it is no more than 1:5. We often have even lower ratios, depending on the class size.
Is Kids' Canvas licensed by the NYC Department of Health?
Kids' Canvas is licensed by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a group childcare center for children 2-5 years old, and additionally our Grove St location also has a license for children under 2 years old.
